8 miles N of St. Augustine

Friday, November 6, 2015

Happy Birthday Sharon!

Such beauty to start this day!
 Birdies in the trees
 Pelican's hangin'

Talk about having a bad day!
Our theory "He was taking on water and didn't know it,
once he realized it he ran her aground to keep her from going
all the way under."  It must have been a catastrophic failure.
He was well off the ICW here.  He probably ran aground
at a lower tide and then the tide came in.  Tides run 5-6 feet
in this area.  On the Chesapeake Bay they run 2-4 feet.
 Obviously not sailing anymore!
The water was so low in this area - the crab pots can't
do their jobs!
 Remember Lady Catherine....
Here she is passing us!
 Nice house on the water
This guy is hangin' with the no-see-ums
 Guarding the dock house!
 His home
 Tree house on the water!
Gary hangin' with us after a beautiful day on the water!
Our sunset!

We were going to leave at 0900 hours due to the opposing
current but Gary wanted to take off at 0730 hours so we did.
We led fighting some 1 to 1.5 knot current pretty much the
whole day.  No wind, flat seas.  We dropped the hook about
8 miles north of St. Augustine in a nice, tree-lined, wide open
area.  We will stay here a few days as we are awaiting Jayne to
arrive in St. Augustine.  I made a real nice pizza for the boys while
they sat on the front deck enjoying beverages and watching the
sunset.  The no see-ums got bad after the wind died so Gary
went home and we watched TV (crap).  I called my best friend
from Illinois for her birthday and we talked for a good hour.
