7 miles south of Charleston, SC 033116

Low tide I say!  Low tide!

It's so low there is not enough water for the red buoy to stand up!

That's why it's so low....this little river is stealing it all!

Normally this marker would be in the water !!

Nice little place to lay on some sand in the middle of nowhere...

We will be in Charleston tomorrow for a couple of days.  We are visiting with Paul and Nancy from Capital Yacht Club in Washington, D.C.  Paul just retired and they are now living in Isle of Palms just north of Charleston.

Beaufort, SC 033016

 New water pump in place!
Got water!
 Our sunset
Bee-u-ta-full!!!

Today was kinda a busy day for us.  But before it got busy we had a 2 hour coffee and I allowed Bob to beat me in a game of cards!

It was laundry day for me, cleansing of the boat on the inside, and taping outside preparing for caulking!

Bob ran to West Marine, filled water jugs, went to PO, went to grocery store, and came back to help me carry the clean laundry down to the dinghy!

Leaving for Charleston tomorrow.  We will be staying about 7 miles south of Charleston down by Elliott's Cut...my favorite cut on the ICW!1

Another beautiful day on the water!

Beaufort, SC 032916

Our fresh water pump went out yesterday.  So we haven't had water for
about 36 hours now.  We do have extra in our blue water jugs though
so that's good.  Headed to Beaufort, SC now so we can go to West Marine
and purchase another one.....By the time we get home and fix everything that
has broken it will be like owning a new boat again!

30 miles into SC! 032816

My friends

I think Bob got a little to close to them...
he scared my friends!!
Hi!
Can you imagine having to walk all this way to get to the end of
your dock where your boat is!??!

Bob changed the oil in both engines and the genny today

Our sunset

Today was a bugless day.  You can tell we are getting further north, the weather is starting to get a little chillier each morning we get up.  But that's ok, we're heading home!

AND....we are in South Carolina now!!!

Right Whales mating season off the coast of SC, GA, and FL

A very rare marine mammal is returning to Georgia’s coast.  This November 22 a North Atlantic Right Whale was seen off the coast of South Carolina migrating south for the winter.  Right whales swim from Canada and New England each year to bear their young along the coast of Georgia, South Carolina and northeastern Florida. Calving season is crucial for this endangered species, since there may be as few as 400 animals.  Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wildlife biologist Clay George, who heads DNR’s right whale research and monitoring efforts, said cooler weather and water temperatures last winter pushed many of the whales farther south, deeper along the Florida coast. Warmer weather is forecast for this winter so it is very likely there will be more sightings off of Georgia’s coast.  Right whales, which can weigh up to 70 tons and reach 50 feet in length, seldom come within sight of land in Georgia, but boaters often see them.   More than 150 individual right whales, including 21 calves, were seen off the southeastern U.S. last winter. While the population is increasing at an annual rate of 2 percent, there are fewer than 100 breeding females.

Today I had a teen-age whale jump up right in front of our boat while I was driving.  He went straight up into the air and then disappeared in the water.  Of course I didn't get a picture, it happened so quickly.  It was probably a little bit larger than the small one in the picture I found on-line.  It was so exciting; I can't even begin to tell you.  Unfortunately, Bob did not see it happen.....
The many wardrobes of Lynn today!

These no-see-ums were everywhere....I even had to cover
my nose so I wouldn't breath them in!

 Feeding time!
 Me again! One eye peek!
 Still feeding and playing!
Another wardrobe change!

We ended up in the middle of no where again.  Didn't have cell phone connection; plenty of bugs though! Long day.  Starting to get cool!!

30 miles north of Brunswick, GA 032616

These guys are waiting for the storm!
 Even Ganja is waiting!
We are coming into Jekyll Island to fuel up
Our first time here!
We are definitely coming back here next year for a
couple of days! There is so much to do!
 More storm warnings
Thunder, lightening, and they go kayaking!
Nope, we didn't miss it.  But at least we were able to
fuel up with diesel and water before it started.  We had to
wait about 45 minutes before we did gasoline!
 I just love the birds!
 And again!
One lonely palm tree on Frederica River!
1 of about 3 houses on the river!
I'm pretty sure I couldn't live here, too many no-see-ums!

Today was another long day on the water.  But!  we are OK with that....it just puts us that much closer to home!  We didn't have a lot happen today; weather was cloudy, rainy, no-see-umey, etc...

After dropping anchor we hurried up and came inside to get away from all the bugs.  Didn't work....in fact, our boat on the inside was infested with mosquitos, we were actually spraying down inside!  While we were fueling up I asked the guy who was helping us, if the bugs were always this bad.  He said no, just the last 24 hours for some reason.  We're guessing it's because of all the rain they had this year.  Bob and I definitely want to come back next year, but if the bugs are here, we're not!

Tomorrow is supposed to be all rain so we will probably be staying put.....however, if there is any chance of escaping, we are outta here!
