Chub Cay 022816

Today I am going to try really hard to catch a fish!
 Come on baby, come on!
The other side of Chub Cay
 South Stirrup
 It's beautiful here!
More beauty!
We are heading back to the states day after tomorrow....
so to help us gain another 2/10th's of a know we decided
to clean the barnacles off the boat before leaving....
We're done, we're tired, we are thirsty!
Bob's not liking the idea of having to put on a heavy bathrobe already!
Sun is setting....time to get back in!
 Nice cirrus clouds
Gotta hurry! Gotta hurry! Sun is setting!
 Time to feed the birdies!
 Won't be long now!
These are our guiding lights for in the morning at 0400 hours!
The green light works, the red light is a reflection
 Cute name "Rag Doll"
 Sun down
beautiful scenery
And at the end of the day the Coast Guard reminds us they are here for us!

We moved to the other side of Chub after I did some fishing this morning.  The winds were starting to pick up from the east which was making us bounce around a bit.

We have dropped anchor now (no fish again!) and we are really hurting on power.  We literally have to start the genny to jump start the batteries to start the engine (only down to one engine now!).  We are definitely limping back to the states!  Whether we like it or not, we are going to have to be true sailors for a bit!  But thankfully we have that in our favor and we do love it just so you know!

We are leaving at 0400 hours tomorrow.  We have 83 miles to cover on one engine and hopefully some help from the wind and of course, our clean bottom!  Right now, we plan on crossing the gulf stream on Tuesday.

Rose Island to Chub Cay

 Our morning sunrise
Look  how calm the water is!
I told you there were no fish in this water Derek!
But we do have some spotted rays!
You see the white pipe there....well our chain is wrapped
around it so Bob had to get in the water and unwrap it before
we could leave this morning
My captain on his way to release the chain :-)
These guys hung around to see what he was doing!
I've never seen a sailboat like this...pretty sweet!
Yikes!  Look at all the windows and the built-in cockpit!
 Very nice!
Even has a side door
 Atlantis!
Hangin' out with the big boys today!!
Sheets are in the wind....average 7 knots today with one engine
helping out!
 My Captain!
 Anchorage area in Chub Cay

YAY! A BTC tower that works!
I love the clouds here....it's a good thing because there sure are a lot of them!
Sunset

Storymaker is on her way to Chub Cay.  We talked with our mechanic this morning and he says we have a blown head gasket issue.  So, we are headed back to the states on one engine and a main sail along with a jib.  We are rolling at 5.4 knots!  It'll take us forever to get home!

Right now, unless the weather changes, we hope to be crossing the Gulf Stream on Wednesday.  Keeping our fingers crossed!

Pretty soon we will be out of range of internet and cell phone service.  We are hoping to pick it up in  in Bimini.

Rose Island 022616

 Our sunrise this morning!
 Still beautiful
Pictures of our surroundings
 Another party boat today!
These people are from Sandy Toes
They are enjoying some snorkeling
Why this big boat felt it was necessary or even feasible
to drop anchor here is beyond me.  He is between us and
the catamaran!
 Hummmmm....surprise, surprise....he hit bottom
Look at all the sand he is stirring up behind him....
And now in front of him....
Some more party people showed up!
The big boat is trying to get unstuck and is getting very close
to the catamaran....You can hear the people on the cat yelling at
the big boat about getting to close!
 He's finally free
Look at all the stirred up sand!
 Our sun setting
 Sunset

Today was kind of a stressful day.  We have been having starboard engine issues off and on since we left.  Right now we have some sort of black gooey stuff in the radiator.  Not sure what it is or what is going on.  Bob is sending our mechanic an email explaining all that is going on and hopefully we will hear some positive news from the mechanic.

In meantime, we are leaving in the morning and starting to head back to the states.  We will get to Chub Cay hopefully tomorrow late.  Running on one engine with no wind makes for "NOT a lot of miles" covered.  But, we don't want to be here in the Bahamas getting this thing fixed....you saw my grocery bill from Highbourne, you/we can just imagine what the parts bill would be here!

We are hoping to cross on Wednesday, weather permitting.
