Highbourne Cay to Allans Cay 022316

Nice BTC tower standing there....too bad it isn't working properly
for the moment!
 Our anchorage
On the way to the grocery store
I know you've seen this before...BUT! it's still beautiful!
My grocery list of everything spoiling in the dinghy!
Can't wait to get back to the states and pay reasonable prices for food again....
 Allans Cay
We are wondering how this boat made it here!
His dink off to the side by the rocks
(Come to find out....2 Bahamians live on the boat...they go
diving for lobster during the day and the dink next to the rocks
is air for their tanks....)
 The iguanas welcoming us back!

 That's right!  I'm a happy girl now!

 You still here!!??!
Do you see me?  I'm in the middle of the picture!

 Let's not forget about me!
You should have seen Bob chasing him down for this shot!
 Peaceful
 Our rock iguana!
Uh-oh Derek....what do you do with a wong in a wong!
The end of another beautiful day
Peeper!

What a day today has been!  We did finally figure out the issue with the overheating problem.  It turns out there was very little water/antifreeze in the system.  There was water in the overflow tank, just not enough in the system. So that's good news.

We are in Highbourne now and  I go to the grocery store to pick up some groceries.  I use my credit card with no problem.  I get my goods and take them back over to the dinghy by the diesel pumps.  Well, the dinghy is not there....Bob was asked to move it because another boat was coming in for fuel. There was plenty of room for us and this other boat but Bob did as asked.  (Bob is still waiting to get fuel at this point)  So I walk the groceries over to the dinghy and when I come back I see that the big boat is filling  up with diesel and our two 5 gallon cans are still sitting there.  I asked Bob why we haven't filled the diesel cans yet and he says "The guy went to pull the diesel hose out and I took the tops off our cans and said "diesel in diesel" and the guy told me to stand by so he could take care of this other boat first!"  Shew....it sure was a good thing I wasn't there.  The guys from the other boat had handed the guy a wad of cash and a huge bag of fish and promptly started fueling their 840 gallons of diesel while we waited!  Granted....we knew this day would happen to us just like running aground was bound to happen, but we're good now, no more!  Of course, the groceries I bought were refrigerated items and it's 45 minutes later and my groceries are still in the dinghy.

Now we are trying to purchase gas and water and all of our credit cards are being declined (they don't accept debit cards!??!) The banks back home have placed holds on them for possible fraudulency.  We are sitting here in front of a BTC tower and can't get a cell phone signal because they are working on upgrading the service on the tower.  Hence, we can't call the banks!  It is hit and miss as to whether or not we get signals and so far we have been disconnected from 3 conversations we have been on with the banks. Very frustrating!  So in the meantime, they have confiscated our fuel cans and water cans until we get the cards taken off hold. This day has got to get better! (We brought plenty of cash but was probably $300 short before crossing back to the states.  We knew already, from the Abacos, that using cards here was few and far between and when you do use them they usually get placed on hold for suspicious activity.  We even contact the banks prior to our leaving and ask them to put a note somewhere that we will be out of the country!)

The day is getting better, but not great.  We finally got the cards taken care of.  Come to find out, the girl at the counter didn't even run one of them.  Of course, she was out to lunch when Bob went back again to take care of the bill and to re-confiscate our cans.  So Bob is now back at the boat and I can't wait to get out of here.

We only had to go about 5 miles north to Allans Cay to drop anchor for the night.  But, we had to drop it 3 times before we were comfortable with our spot.  The place isn't that crowded, but the way the boats dropped anchor made it difficult to find a spot that wouldn't interfere with anyone else.

Finally! Life is Good! We went over to the island with the iguanas and spent an hour or so with them for Happy Hour.  :-)
