Good morning! It's 0630 and we are rollin'!!
Beautiful out here today!
We are doing the Pungo-Alligator River today
Lot's of scenic pictures!
Lot's of tannin in the water....decomposition of the
foliage and everything....
Do you see the gator?!!
Look in the woods above the third tire....hee hee
Another beautiful Baldy!
Bob's taking a nap and I have to pass this boat....the river is not that wide...
Bob wakes up later and says "Did you pass that boat? I said yes...I said why,
did you think I should of?
I see this from a distance and we are coming out of the river....I asked Bob
if it was a small sailboat out in the middle of nowhere? He says, are you
talking about that stump sticking out of the water!?? I keep telling him
I need glasses....might have to put that on the list of things to do this summer
while I am home! [Captain's note - and I let her drive?]
Pictures of our sunset
We are just dropping anchor
Sitting quietly at the end of a long day!!!
When we left this morning at 0630 we didn't plan on going as far as we did. But after looking at the future weather we knew we were going to be sitting for a couple of days so we decided to make it to the Albemarle Sound. We went 110 miles today....that's the furthest we've ever done on a day trip! We did have a nice breeze up to 20 mph and was able to fly the jib for about 2 hours before it died, but the current was with us all day so we took advantage of it!
We went an extra 4 miles up the weather to find a good anchorage for the gale winds expected tomorrow so we should be all good!
It didn't take long for exhaustion to set in....we were in bed very early!
