Solomons!!! 041516

We are on the move, not sure how far we will make it.  We are only doing 4.3 knots with 25 sustained winds on the nose, let's not forget about the 2 -3 foot seas! n We left at 0615.

As for the latest in the race:  My email to the boys....

OK...That was not Admiral Lynn speaking it was actually the wrath of Gigi (grandmother) speaking.  Captain Bob being the sweet husband he is proved to Admiral Lynn and Gigi that there was no way we could go any further north yesterday.  It took us 3 hours to go 10 miles in the most horrible conditions and then another hour to get to a safe haven!  Point taken!  It appears as though there is a cold front hovering over the Norfolk area so we are technically still trying to inch our was up the bay. Once we get another 30 - 40 miles it should calm down somewhat, considerably we hope!  The Kooper Krazy Karnival Karavan leaves today I believe.  Captain Bob (B2) highly suggests you stay a couple of days longer!  It is really cold and blowy up here (hee hee)! Brian B1 is hopefully in Richmond today for his speaking engagement!  Once again, Gigi apologizes for her rampage again!  Oh, and by the way, B2 still has no Snickers, rum, and enough pancakes for one more breakfast.  I guess Admiral Lynn better start cooling!

As for Brian....

I'm glad to hear that my competition is also wrestling the headwinds. Many days in a row now I have thought to myself, "but if I were only going the other way I could have covered 1000 miles by now!" I am in deed in Richmond meeting a friendly bicycle group now. Lots of administrative work to complete before hitting the road to DC! Should make it to Fredericksburg by tomorrow and then DC the following day. Onward!

As for The Kooper Krazy Karnival Karavan

They got 2 flats at once...first one caused the 2nd one....everyone ok!

We had a little delay today.  Just pulled into St George, SC for dinner. We'll be almost to NC before we stop for the night.  If you get to 695 by 2 you will have us.  May be there by dark if all goes well.  Good Luck!

Us this morning trying again to get a little further north!
We are hitting waves so bad it's coming up under the trampoline!
 Splish, splash!!!
I'm so happy....we are going north!!!!
Smith's Point Lighthouse

Just outside of the cut to Solomons...
this is where we dropped anchor tonight
 Our first MD sunset !

Well we did it.  It was rough going for the first several hours but right about 01:30 the winds calmed down to 10-12 knots and the waves calmed down considerably.  We were so excited we decided to keep on going.  We still had the Potomac to cross but felt sure it would be doable.  It was not only doable, but it was very calm and peaceful.

We should be home TOMORROW!!!!  :-)
