Tomorrow we will be taking the dinghy ride to the
other side!
Storymaker loving life!
Another beautiful day on our beach!
Snorkeling Bob!
Flipper Bob saying hello!
Bob still working during this beautiful sunset!
Beautiful
Our sunset
Shroud Cay is actually a group of cays and
rocks between which lies an extensive marl and mangrove salina. The entire eastern shore of Shroud Cay can
only be explored by dinghy as it is shallow and laced with heads, rocks, and
reefs.
Happy Birthday Jenny!!!
We
left Highbourne this morning headed for Normans, but got detoured. We were fighting 29 knot winds with 3’ to 4’
seas on the nose which made it an almost uncomfortable ride. Luckily, I feel very comfortable with my
captain, and I know we have a good sturdy boat, so I’m not bothered by it most
of the time. It is a little weird
though, to be sitting at the salon table, and all of a sudden have the whole
floor lift up under you! You see, during
seas such as this, our boat flexes causing the table in the salon to jump from
time to time.
Coming
into the anchorage there were a lot of coral heads and because the chart
plotter showed that the water was so shallow we didn’t know the path to come
in. So Bob called “Hello all stations,”
to the vessels at anchorage to see if anyone could guide us in. A catamaran,
Neko, responded and gave us two way points and told us the approximate location
of the coral heads. Once we got in to
the area, with the sun behind us, you could easily see the coral heads. So thank you Neko for the information! So,
here I sit with no tower, and no cell or internet service, which means no phone
call to Jenny L
Boo! We did text her this morning before
leaving, and did try to call her, left voicemail…..so it wasn’t a complete
loss!
It
took us about 5 hours to get to Shroud Cay.
The mangroves here are supposed to be awesome! We are going to dinghy through them
tomorrow. Today we hit the beach and did
some snorkeling around the island. We
didn’t see a lot, but it was still fun!
